Farmers appraised about soil
testing, conservation
YINGKIONG, Dec 7: Progressive farmers and PRI members of Geku and its adjoining villages were apprised about soil testing, conservation and its utility during a programme organized at the office of District Agriculture Office here on Saturday to mark World Soil Health Day.
During the programme, Geku KVK SMS Kato Tayeng, Bodak Jongkey advised the officers and staff to consult and seek suggestion from the PRI members before implementing government schemes and projects in rural areas.

SEPPA, Dec 7: A legal awareness camp was organized at Nyedar Namlo on the occasion of Nyishi Nyem Acham (NNA) foundation day here on Saturday.

The sincere commitment of Nabam Tuki can be reflected in the recent budget wherein the allocation of DoTCL fund has been increased from Rs 25 Cr to Rs 40 Cr. In respect of the Rs 12 Cr budgeted for DoTCL being allegedly retained by the CM is totally false as the said project was to be funded under RIDF as announced in the budget, he said.
However, on the request of the MLAs from the region as it was discussed in the State Development Council meeting, the project is being funded from the state plan on receipt of feasible project proposals from the three districts. Adequate budgetary provision is kept for the same, the minister said.
Aboh further said that all total Rs. 44305.09 Lakhs has been released for these three districts under NEC, NLCPR, SPA and RIDF apart from the normal DoTCL funding and non plan funding during RE stages.
No previous government had ever gone for extensive planning and transparent funding than the present government headed by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki. The development activities and the funding pattern are in the public domain and can be visited by anyone in the web portal of the state planning department. Therefore, neglecting these three districts under the leadership of present CM is misleading and is an attempt to shift the responsibility of vested interest law makers of the districts, the minister added.
Merely accusing the state government for accusation sake and to garner cheap publicity is nothing but a deliberate attempt to misguide the innocent local people of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, the minister said.

According to the Attorney Holder, some miscreants are obstructing in construction of the road under PMGSY by not allowing movement of men and machineries by putting obstacles on the path. The miscreants often harass and manhandle the labourers and other staff engaged in the road construction works besides destroying labourers’ camps and damaging construction materials which forced the construction agency/company to temporarily halt the work, the attorney holder informed in a release.
The work was resumed on December 13. But, the miscreants have again started their illegal activities forcing us to stop the work which is incurring a daily loss of Rs. two lakh, he claimed. The Attorney holder alleged that in spite of repeated appeals, the authority concerned has not paid any heed to solve the problem.

Forest officers assaulted in Anini
ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Two people have been alleged of assaulting and torturing forest officers at Anini in Dibang Valley district.
According to FIR lodged with Anini Police Station by DFO Mori Riba, one Handi Molo of Kaji village entered his official residence carrying dao on December 3 at around 2 pm seeking information on certain schemes.
‘… My repeated request to come to office during working hours to get the information was undermined. He kept on threatening instead,’ the FIR read. The assaulter has been alleged of entering the official residence of the DFO two times earlier in the month of April and September this year with the same intension.
In an another incident, the Range Forest Officer of Anini Social Forestry Range Babul Chaitom was physically assaulted with dao and his government quarter ransacked allegedly by Bande Milli and Handi Molo on the night of December 3 last. In the attack, the left arm and wrist of the RFO was injured.

It will not be out of context to say that drinking is synonymous with the very existence

Unfortunately, after Arunachal Pradesh was declared a wet state, thousands of IMFL
outlets sprang up in the state. Today, things have come to such a pass that one would
get an IMFL shop at every step in the capital Itanagar and all the district headquarters
including in the small towns. Little wonder then, the number of habitual drinkers
had also burgeoned by leaps and bounds. Sadly, even the elderly villagers who used
to relish locally brewed rice beer have started preferring this potentially harmful
IMFL because it is readily available and also because it gives them intoxication
faster. However, the greatest harm or threat this IMFL poses to is the youth of the
state. No party, picnic, celebration or even a simple get-
Interestingly, a small place like Khonsa has about 24 IMFL outlets whereas there are hardly two bookstalls. So, we can imagine where the youths are heading for. Leave alone the authorized IMFL shops, one finds liquor being openly sold in ghumtis, tea stalls, roadside dhabas etc all over Arunachal Pradesh. The most frightening aspect is that the long distance bus drivers, truck drivers and individuals driving their cars, enter the roadside dhabas to have a few drinks thereby endangering their own lives and that of others. These habitual irresponsible drinkers must realize that these whiskies, brandies, rums etc are basically made for the people living in the colder European countries. They don’t suit the people living in a comparatively humid and hot country like India.
It would be foolhardy to ask the government to ban IMFL because it is one of the
main revenue earners for the state in the absence of any industry worth its name.
The only remedy is that the denizens have to be responsible drinkers and should know

ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Aisu Panyang was crowned Little Miss Arunachal (LMA) at Nyikum Niya ground Nirjuli yesterday. Yangchen Lhamu T Khunjuju and Dampi Ligu bagged the first runners up and second runners up positions respectively in the contest.
Braving winter chill, 26 little angels vied for the coveted crown in the first ever Little Miss Arunachal contest organised by Arunachal Helping Hand Charitable Society (AHHCS) and Arunachal Children Welfare Society (ACWS.
The winner walked away with a cash prize of Rs one lakh and numbers of gift presented by Nutrition Sunrise Ltd and Panasonic.
The first and the second runners up bagged a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. NPR & biometric enrolment reviewed
SEPPA, Dec 7: A review meeting on progress of Nation Population Register (NPR) and biometric enrolment was held at Kameng Hall, Seppa today.
Chairing the meeting East Kameng DC, Sandeep Kumar Singh stressed on collective efforts from all the PRI members, charge officers and enumerators for complete coverage. He raised serious concerns for those circles where the biometric enrolment was very low. The DC stated that the beneficiaries oriented schemes such as NFSA, MGNERGA, PDS and other developmental schemes may be affected in future as the database will reflect lesser population. He urged the PRI members and officers to spread the message in their respective village to get themselves enrolled in NPR and biometric compulsorily.
ADC Bameng, T Messar suggested that the Aadhar Cards have to be collected by the person concern only or their parents or children.
DSO (ST) CA Loffa informed that the first round of biometric enrollment has been started in all administrative circles except Khenewa, Gwepurang and Sawa where the enrolment will start from this week onwards. She also stated that the coverage was good in Seijossa, Dissing Passo and Pakke Kessang circles but it has to be improved at Seppa, Bameng and Chayangtajo.
A methodology was devised to distribute the Aadhar Card through the concern charge officer. It was also planned to have a second round of biometric enrollment for Pijeriang, Bana, Richukrang and any other circle as recommended by the charge officers in the last two weeks of December. It was observed that some people are resisting from biometric enrolment for their children upto 12 years and also some have already got enrolled at other locations like Itanagar and Seppa. After a long thaw, finally the relation between India and Pakistan is moving ahead. The first contact was developed on November 30, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif held a brief meeting on the sidelines of a UN climate summit at Paris. Taking it forward, yesterday national security advisers of India and Pakistan discussed peace and security issues between the two countries during a meeting at Bangkok.
The talk between two national security advisers has somewhat brought down tempers
on both side and have paved a way forward for improving the relation between two
hostile neighbours. Today Pakistani official announced that external affairs minister
Sushma Swaraj will arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday to attend a regional conference
on Afghanistan. This is complete departure from earlier stand of the hawkish NDA
government. Earlier BJP took stand that terror and talk will not go together. But
after miserably failing in their Pakistan policy over the course of last one and
half year, the NDA government seems to have realize that talks is the only way forward.

Unemployment and Hydropower development
Dear Editor,
Through Your Daily ,I want share my perception toward unemployment and hydropower development and how govt has failed to utilize this opportunity . Every year thousands of students graduate from different fields and numbers of unemployment increases day by day, and if calculated steps taken by Govt is not enough. It has failed to bring private companies and fail to sign up bright memorandum with PSUs . Due to non availability of Private companies and PSUs, numbers of unemployment has increased, whereas in other state most of people are engaged in Private companies and in PSUs, which obviously decrease the burden of govt.
As per records, Arunachal has the highest hydroelectric power potential in the country. Currently, the state tops in the Mini and micro hydel project in India too. And several steps are being taken for setting up mega projects and some has already started but local people fail to get benefit from that.
If govt wants, maximum number of local people can be engaged in this field as a Engineers, clerk, accountants but sad to say that countable local people are there, which shows the lack of interest of Govt or perhaps they have better ideas for the Public.

Keep up with the Zuckerbergs
Dear Editor,
Kudos to Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan for their pledge of giving 99 per cent of their Facebook shares currently worth more than $ 45 billion to charitable purposes to make a better world for their daughter's generation. This act is a mark departure from the general picture of shameless and endless greed of tycoons for more and more money.
To save the face of humanity, they have taken a leaf out of the book of Bill Gates who has already committed to give away at least 95 per cent of his wealth. This should be a lesson or two for those super haves who shamelessly show off their riches by spending an astronomical sum of money in marriage ceremonies, pujas and parties in the land which is still alarmingly lowly placed in Global Hunger Index as well as Human Development Index. These greedy creamy layers is so myopic that they do not want to bother about the environment they are making for their children. They do not even hesitate to cut off the very branch their children are supposed to sit on.
It is time for all of us to learn from Gates and Zuckerbergs and think about the ways in which we can contribute towards ushering in a pollution free, egalitarian and tolerant world. The need of the hour is to keep up with the Zuckerbergs instead of suicidal and callous way of keeping up with the Joneses.

Creator and the creation
Dear Editor,
The nameless Creator, the huge list of human Gods and the endless suffering of mankind.
The truth is that, there is a nameless supreme creator of the infinite Universe, the nameless God. A human is borne and created by the parents; likewise, all observable entities are borne or created by some source of origin. The Earth did not create the Sun or Moon or the Stars or the Cosmos and the reverse also doesn't seem to happen. But since every perceptible entity has a source of origin or the creator, the ultimate creator of the infinite cosmos or the creation is god. The system of the creation operates as per absolutely sophisticated set of rules.
A human is born nameless and come into this world just crying. Similarly, all the countless humbled souls lie deep in peace at the bosom of mother Earth empty hand in some absolute mystery and none was ever flown out of her to outer space. And there is absolute certainty that all the mortals ever walking on this land will traverse the same path.
God, the creator did not ever reveal any exclusive or specific name to any human, individual or group whatsoever of himself, and neither that will ever happen. The supreme creator is one and all the human and other entities in the Mother Nature, the cosmos belong to him with all sacredness. Futile and endless competition to give an artificial name or identity to God and reckless pursuit for superiority of some name; the consequential differences, divisions, intolerance, confrontations, wars & fighting among various human groups for some artificial identity has deeply entrenched in mankind as the biggest sole reason of human sufferings and annihilation of billions of lives down the ages and even more gravely in the present world.
